Frequently Asked Questions

  • Presenter registration is open for YPSE 2024. Use the Registration form to indicate your desire to present prior to the presenter registration deadline. A link for collecting the abstracts and final presentations will be distributed as part of the registration confirmation email. Please reach out to aiaa.midatlantic+YPSE@gmail.com with any additional questions.

  • All topics related to the Aerospace community are welcome! Make sure presentations are sent through the proper public release channels before the event. The titles for the winning technical presentations from past years can be found in the Past Conferences tab. Technical presentations will be scored on various criteria including ability to convey impact of work, demonstrate knowledge of the technical area, methodologies, communication, and more. Awards will be given to exceptional presentations in the various YPSE categories.

    We will be offering a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) track again this year. The process for signing up through the registration portal is the same as for the technical presentations.

  • Technical presentations will be reviewed on the following criteria:

    • (25 points) Conveyed the importance of topic and showing awareness of the state of the art in this technical area.

    • (50 points) Technical content.

    • (25 points) Organization of material and quality of presentation.

  • Proceedings of the conference are not published; therefore, presentations which have accompanying papers presented elsewhere, or planned to be presented elsewhere, are acceptable.

  • Yes. The conference sessions are unclassified and open to the public; authors whose presentations are the result of work-sponsored research are requested to obtain clearance from their sponsors or organization.

  • Abstracts should be a 250-500 word overview of the technical topic you will be presenting on. Abstracts may be released to conference attendees. Complete papers are not required. DEI abstracts do not have formal requirements but it is recommended that you provide an overview of your planned talk in the abstract submission space.

    Abstract submissions are gathered via a form in the registration confirmation email. If you cannot submit the abstract through that form, they should be emailed to aiaa.midatlantic+YPSE-Abstracts@gmail.com.

  • Presentation blocks are scheduled for 20 minutes each. We recommend that your presentations take 15 minutes and that you plan for 5 minutes of audience questions.

  • Yes! Please have each individual team member register separately while listing the other presenters for the submission in the co-presenters section.

  • If you would like to volunteer as a judge or session chair please email aiaa.midatlantic+YPSE@gmail.com and include: your name, affiliation, desired volunteer position, technical background, and years of work experience (as applicable).

  • Presenter registration closes on November 1st, 2024.

    Attendee registration closes on November 15th, 2024.

    Please reach out to us at aiaa.midatlantic+YPSE@gmail.com if you would like to register after the attendee registration deadline.

    If, after registering, you are unable to attend the 2024 YPSE Conference you are entitled to receive a full refund of your registration fee. Cancellations must be in writing and received no later than 3 November 2024. Registrants who cancel beyond this date or fail to attend the forum will forfeit the entire fee.

  • No! Anyone in the aerospace field is welcome to attend to present their work or to see what is happening within the industry. That said, we highly recommend joining AIAA to take advantage of all of the membership perks, including cheaper conference registration fees at YPSE and other AIAA conferences. You can become a member online or onsite at the conference.

    Your AIAA membership number must be provided to register for the conference as an AIAA member. To find your membership number, visit aiaa.org and click the log in tab at the top of the webpage. After you successfully log in, click the MyAIAA tab at the top of the webpage and you'll find your member number in the MY PROFILE table.
